A wildfire erupted in the Burbank hills on Saturday afternoon, prompting immediate action from local police and fire departments. The blaze, referred to as the Walnut fire, was first reported near Wildwood Canyon and Harvard Road around 3:20 p.m.
Burbank firefighters are actively working to control the fire, which is burning close to DeBell Golf Club and Wildwood Canyon Park. The city has issued evacuations for areas proximate to the fire to ensure public safety.
In a public statement, Burbank authorities announced several closures impacting community amenities. DeBell Restaurant and Golf Course and the Stough Canyon Nature Center are closed. Additionally, hiking trails in the area are not accessible until further notice. The planned Starlight Bowl concert for August 8 is canceled as a precautionary measure.
