Two drivers have filed a class action lawsuit against Mercedes-Benz, accusing the luxury carmaker of a design flaw in certain AMG vehicles. According to the suit, the raised metallic AMG logo on the cars’ front seats can cause burns by coming into contact with the occupant’s upper body.
Gabriel Lahijani and Karendeep Bath are the plaintiffs. They are seeking compensation for medical expenses, pain, suffering, and emotional distress. Additionally, they request Mercedes remove the logo from future vehicle designs.
The complaint was submitted to the U.S. District Court of California’s Western division. Lahijani, who resides in Los Angeles, leased a 2026 Mercedes-AMG E-Class and reported receiving second-degree burns from the logo. A dermatologist confirmed the injuries.
Bath, from Chatsworth, California, reported similar injuries from her vehicle’s logo. After wearing a sleeveless top, she received burns consistent with the logo’s shape.
The lawsuit claims that the metallic logo can cause burns, marking the skin visibly.
Mercedes-Benz USA, alongside Daimler AG, previously settled for $149.6 million over allegations of installing emission test-cheating devices in their vehicles. Between 2008 and 2016, more than 211,000 vehicles were involved, according to the attorneys general’s coalition.
