The NFL’s gambling policy, which is reviewed with all personnel annually, forbids any involvement in sports gambling and sharing of non-public information. The league emphasized that while the integrity of games remained intact, any policy violation is treated seriously. They stated, “The Gambling Policy strictly prohibits anyone in the NFL from participating in or facilitating any form of sports gambling, and from providing third parties non-public information.”
The Cardinals responded in a statement, affirming their support for the NFL’s decision. They highlighted the clear and comprehensive policies communicated to employees. The team remains focused on the upcoming training camp and the 2026 season. Gold, part of the Cardinals for 13 years, became the director of college scouting in June 2025. He has held various scouting roles since 2018.
Gold has the right to appeal the suspension. Attempts to contact him for comments were unsuccessful. The NFL maintains strict gambling policies, extending education efforts to over 20,000 league-associated individuals. Players are prohibited from betting on NFL games, manipulating games, or sharing insider information. They may legally gamble on other sports off club premises and participate in fantasy leagues under certain conditions.
