The recent All-Star festivities in Philadelphia have offered a preview of what the Chicago Cubs can expect in under a year. On Friday, the Cubs revealed the official logo for the 2027 MLB All-Star Game, scheduled to be played on July 13 at Wrigley Field. This event marks the fourth time the Midsummer Classic has been held at Wrigley Field, with previous games in 1947, 1962, and 1990. This makes Wrigley Field the only active stadium to host four All-Star Games, alongside Municipal Stadium in Cleveland and old Yankee Stadium in New York.
Major League Baseball collaborated with the Cubs to create the All-Star Game logo. They emphasized Wrigley’s iconic marquee, using typography from the marquee’s letterform. The six-point star from the Chicago flag also featured prominently as the hyphen in ‘All-Star.’ Cubs center fielder Pete Crow-Armstrong unveiled the 2027 All-Star Game logo during a pregame ceremony on July 17, 2026, at Wrigley Field.
President of baseball operations Crane Kenney expressed heightened awareness and attention to detail in preparation for hosting the event. ‘You’re more aware of what’s going on than enjoying it,’ Kenney stated.
Kenney also attended the 2025 All-Star Game in Atlanta to learn how the Braves implemented events at Truist Park, focusing on philanthropic efforts which are integral to hosting the event. He noted the importance of treating local fans well while welcoming international guests.
‘We’re the host, but the league is in charge of ticketing, activation around the ballpark, the suites, clubs, and private spaces, down to the parking lot,’ Kenney remarked.
The 2016 World Series at Wrigley served as a valuable preparatory experience for the Cubs. Additionally, adaptations made during the COVID-shortened 2020 season have provided insights. While the expiring collective bargaining agreement and potential lockout pose uncertainty for the 2027 season, no contingencies are planned to address potential disruptions.
‘We have to operate as if there is no end to the CBA and no pause in play,’ Kenney explained. ‘We hope both sides will come together for uninterrupted play.’
Philadelphia’s downtown offered centralized space for an All-Star Village, a setup contrasted by Chicago’s dynamics. Most All-Star events will occur around Wrigley Field, but larger activities like the fan village may require downtown venues. The hosting process will involve a committee led by honorary members including Gov. JB Pritzker and Mayor Brandon Johnson, with actor Bill Murray and Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder also part of the group.
The Cubs view this All-Star event as an opportunity to showcase stadium upgrades completed in 2021. ‘We’re going to keep all the energy in Wrigleyville, showcasing our ballpark,’ Kenney stated.
The ceremonial unveiling also featured Baseball Hall of Famers Andre Dawson and Billy Williams, Cubs Hall of Famer Shawon Dunston, among other notable names, each representing one of Wrigley’s past All-Star Games. Crow-Armstrong stood in tribute to the upcoming 2027 game. The event culminated with Anthony Rizzo’s ceremonial first pitch.
MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred praised Chicago’s rich baseball heritage in a statement while looking forward to collaborating with the Cubs and other local entities. ‘Chicago provides a perfect stage for the game’s brightest stars,’ Manfred noted.
