Increased Use of AI by Nurses Highlights Accuracy Concerns

Recent data indicates a significant rise in the use of artificial intelligence (AI) by nurses in their professional duties. A survey, released on July 7, 2026, surveyed over 2,200 nurses and showed that approximately 44 percent of them now incorporate AI into their work. This represents a notable increase from 15 percent in the previous year.

Despite the increased adoption, there remains skepticism about the reliability of AI technology among nurses. Over 80 percent of survey participants expressed concerns that the AI tools they use are not sufficiently accurate and require verification before they can be trusted completely.

For example, Bojana Milekic, a practicing nurse at Mount Sinai hospital, demonstrated in June 2023 how an AI program was used to predict patients most at risk. This case underscores the potential for AI in healthcare, but also highlights the need for human oversight to ensure patient safety.
