Gotham FC Moves Home Games to Queens, Highlighting Strategic Expansion

Carolyn Tisch Blodgett, Gotham FC’s club governor, announced the move of the team’s home games from New Jersey to Etihad Park stadium in Queens. She emphasized New York City’s unrivaled sports stage while discussing the team’s vision to be among the best globally. With her family co-owning the New York Giants, Tisch Blodgett expressed excitement for this next chapter.

Gotham FC has demonstrated success on the field, winning the National Women’s Soccer League Championship in 2023 and 2025. Tisch Blodgett mentioned the team’s focus on creating a match-day experience that aligns with their ambitions. The plan includes building a new stadium in Willets Point, Queens, to be ready for the 2028 season, relocating from their current venue in Harrison, New Jersey.

Despite the relocation, Gotham FC plans to maintain a presence in New Jersey with a dedicated training facility in Whippany. Tisch Blodgett highlighted the challenges women’s teams face, often playing in borrowed spaces. The new facility and stadium symbolize a permanent home for Gotham FC.

“For so long, Gotham, like so many women’s teams, were always in borrowed spaces,” Tisch Blodgett noted. “We are always a tenant, we are always kind of working around other schedules.”

Gotham FC’s training facility in New Jersey and gameday experience at Etihad Park aim to set new standards. Tisch Blodgett shared the joy of informing the players, many of whom have faced the ups and downs of women’s sports. These athletes have experienced small crowds and shared facilities.

Having their own customized locker room and training facility means a lot to the players, enhancing their professional environment. The move marks a defining moment for Gotham FC, reflecting their ambitions and offering supporters a world-class experience.

New York City FC and Gotham FC jointly stated the move to Queens represents a key period in Gotham FC’s growth, aligning the club’s matchday environment with its global ambitions.

Mandy Freeman and her teammates celebrated Gotham FC’s latest NWSL Championship triumph. This highlights the team’s success and exciting future.
