England Men’s National Team Prepares for 2026 FIFA World Cup in Florida Heat

The England men’s national soccer team has arrived in West Palm Beach, Florida for their training ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. With matches set to be held across various cities in the United States, dealing with the Florida heat is considered as crucial as any tactical practice.

High-Tech Cooling Devices

To counter the expected summer temperatures, England players will use advanced palm-cooling devices. According to BBC Sport’s Sami Mokbel, these devices help reduce core body temperature, which is key for recovery and improving performance. England plans to implement these devices during training and during scheduled water breaks in matches.

Heat Concerns

Research highlighted by NPR indicates that 67 out of 104 World Cup matches have potential risks associated with heat illnesses. Out of these, 39 matches are considered high risk.

Upcoming Matches

England begins their World Cup journey against Croatia at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas on June 17. Although the forecast predicts a temperature of 90 degrees with a ‘realfeel’ of 97, the stadium’s roof could mitigate heat concerns. The team will then face Ghana at Gillette Stadium in Massachusetts on June 23, and Panama at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey on June 27.

Having reached the quarterfinals in the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, England aims to equal or advance beyond that achievement. The team holds the third-best odds for winning their first World Cup since 1966.
