A 36-year-old man sustained stab wounds to the neck and body during a confrontation on a Chicago Transit Authority Blue Line train, police reported. The incident occurred Wednesday night in the Loop neighborhood.
According to Chicago police, the altercation took place shortly before 7:30 p.m. as the train traveled near the 500 block of South LaSalle Street. During the fight, the man was stabbed with an unspecified sharp object in both his neck and the left side of his body.
The assailant fled the scene following the incident. Emergency responders transported the injured man to Stroger Hospital, where medical staff listed his condition as fair.
Chicago police detectives stated they are exploring all leads as part of their ongoing investigation into the event.
