Russell Wilson Retires, Ciara Shares Emotional Response

Super Bowl winner Russell Wilson announced his retirement on Wednesday, prompting an emotional response from his wife, Ciara. The singer, who has been married to Wilson for nearly ten years, shared her reflections on their shared journey. “The best in the world! There’s only one, 3!” she expressed on social media following Wilson’s announcement.

Ciara attended a celebration with Wilson at Marquee in New York City on October 24, 2025. She wrote, “Always so proud of you! It’s a true blessing to go on this journey with you! My greatest inspiration! I love you so much!” along with a goat emoji and a heart-shaped hand emoji.

Together, Ciara and Wilson have three children, while Ciara has another child from a previous relationship with rapper Future.

Wilson’s decision to retire followed his deal to work as an analyst with CBS Sports. “As I enter this next chapter with CBS Sports and β€˜The NFL Today,’ I’m blessed to continue being around the greatest game in the world,” Wilson shared in a video message. In that video, he thanked his family and friends, especially Ciara, for their unwavering support during his NFL career. “Thank you, C. I thank you, Ciara, for being my greatest blessing, my best friend, and my partner through it all. None of this journey called life would have been the same without you,” he said.

The 10-time Pro Bowl quarterback was drafted in the third round of the 2012 NFL Draft by the Seattle Seahawks. Wilson played ten seasons with the Seahawks, leading them to a championship by defeating the Denver Broncos 43-8 in Super Bowl XLVIII.

Later, the Seahawks traded him to the Broncos before the 2022 season. Although Wilson struggled to replicate his earlier success, he had short stints with the Pittsburgh Steelers and New York Giants. Over 14 seasons and 205 games, Wilson achieved a career record of 121-80-1, completing 64.6% of his passes for 46,966 yards, with 353 touchdowns and 114 interceptions.
