Washington Commanders linebacker Leo Chenal will not play in Sunday’s match against the Seattle Seahawks due to a neck injury. He was carted off the field but was seen moving, raising his fist, and waving as he departed. Chenal’s injury occurred while tackling Seattle’s Emanuel Wilson, where he led with his head, causing neck compression.
After Chenal collapsed, teammates surrounded him as medical staff provided assistance. He was secured on a spine board and removed from the field. Coach Dan Quinn appeared visibly concerned, reflecting the crisis the team faces with recent injuries, including quarterback Jayden Daniels’ elbow dislocation the previous week.
The Commanders confirmed Chenal would not return to the game. The incident was eerily similar to Daniels’ injury, where he was also carted off due to a serious arm issue. However, these removals don’t always signal severe consequences for the player’s health or career.
Despite these setbacks, the Commanders led the Seahawks 24-10 in the second half, with Marcus Mariota stepping in for the injured Daniels, throwing three touchdown passes. The team is rallying amidst the challenges, displaying their determination.
