Aikman’s Perspective
Troy Aikman remains pragmatic about the Dallas Cowboys’ recent performance. The team defeated the Philadelphia Eagles 38-21 at Lincoln Financial Field, yet Aikman’s view of the Cowboys remains unchanged. He commented that the Eagles were struggling, which made the win less significant.
“Eh, not really, and I don’t mean that as a negative. This is a beat-up Philadelphia team. To come in here and win tonight, let’s not get carried away,” Aikman stated.
Injuries Affect Eagles’ Performance
The Eagles faced challenges with several key players absent. Backup quarterback Tanner McKee filled in for Jalen Hurts, who missed the game due to health issues. Additionally, the team was short-handed after trading Cam Jurgens and Lane Johnson’s unexpected retirement. Saquon Barkley, also injured, left the game early.
Game Highlights
Aikman noted the Cowboys’ performance was expected given the Eagles’ difficulties. He mentioned that while the Cowboys’ offense and defense showed potential, improvement is crucial as the playoffs approach. The defense, in particular, remains a concern with an average allowance of 25.7 points per game. The offense ranks higher, averaging 27 points per game.
Upcoming Challenges
With the win, the Cowboys improved their record to 3-4, yet they still trail the New York Giants in the NFC East. Their next game against the Arizona Cardinals offers a chance for the Cowboys to enhance their standing both in the league and in Aikman’s view.
