Alabama’s defensive back Dre Kirkpatrick Jr. has been removed from the team following his second arrest this year. Coach Kalen DeBoer announced the dismissal on Tuesday, emphasizing that Kirkpatrick did not adhere to the team’s standards and expectations.
The arrest occurred last Friday with charges involving the harassment and doxxing of a University of Alabama police officer. According to police documents seen by The Athletic, Kirkpatrick allegedly sent harassing messages and posted a Facebook photo of the officer with his family.
Last year, Kirkpatrick faced similar legal issues. He was arrested in Tuscaloosa on counts of reckless endangerment, attempting to elude police, and speeding. This led to a suspension for the final seven games of the last season, although he rejoined the team in the spring.
In addition, he is accused of leaving the scene of an accident in a separate misdemeanor incident from June. Before the recent suspension, Kirkpatrick had appeared in all seven games of Alabama’s current season, making five tackles. Over his three-year tenure with Alabama, he participated in 28 games, recorded 17 tackles, and forced two fumbles.
