Tragic Shooting at Northern California High School Graduation Leaves One Dead

On Wednesday night, a shooting at a high school graduation in Northern California resulted in one fatality and left three others injured. The incident took place around 7:15 p.m. during the Sem Yeto High School graduation ceremony, held at Fairfield High School’s parking lot, southwest of Sacramento.

According to the Fairfield Police Department, one victim died on the scene while the other three injured individuals are being treated at local hospitals. The severity of their injuries remains unknown.

Mayor Alma Hernandez from nearby Suisun City shared on Facebook that authorities are actively searching for the shooter. The incident occurred after the ceremony concluded, as noted by a spokesperson for the Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District in a statement to CBS News Sacramento.

The victims’ conditions and ages have not been disclosed. As the investigation continues, no description of the suspect has been provided yet.

The Solano County Sheriff’s Office is cooperating with the Fairfield police in the investigation. Sem Yeto is a continuation high school operating on the same campus as Fairfield High School. Anyone with information is encouraged to reach out to the Fairfield police.
