A fatal stabbing has claimed the life of Dr. Idris Evans, a pediatric critical care doctor. The tragic incident occurred at his residence in Edgewood, Pennsylvania. Both Dr. Evans and his wife were attacked early Thursday morning, according to the Allegheny County Police Department.
Dr. Evans, aged 46, succumbed to his injuries, while his wife remains critically injured. Law enforcement officials discovered the couple with multiple stab wounds shortly after receiving a report of an incident on Linden Avenue.
Dr. Evans was associated with UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, where he played a vital role as a pediatric critical care physician. Following the attack, he was rushed to a hospital but was later pronounced deceased.
Authorities have identified the suspect as Elijah Hemingway, aged 32. Initially, witness interviews led detectives to assess the attack’s context. Hemingway allegedly entered the home and assaulted Dr. Evans and his wife as they slept.
Court documents revealed that Evans’ wife described waking up to the assault. The attacker reportedly mentioned “being God” while dressed in minimal clothing.
