Brandi Glanville, former star of “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills,” faces ongoing personal and financial hurdles due to her health struggles. She shared with Fox News Digital her need to return to work after incurring significant medical expenses.
“I had previously been able to decline opportunities,” Glanville said. “But medical bills became overwhelming, requiring me to take any work I could find. It was a chance to prove to myself that I could do this again.”
Glanville spent hundreds of thousands of dollars from her savings and 401(k) on medical bills, detailing her frustration with the health system. “I get calls from creditors starting at 8 a.m.,” she noted. “I depleted my savings and still owed for medical expenses despite having insurance. I am entering my mid-fifties without a financial cushion, which is frightening.”
In September, Glanville revealed diagnoses including highly resistant ESBL Klebsiella, Enterobacter with biofilm, Valley fever, Demodex dermatitis, and mononucleosis. Her treatment costs run between $3,300 and $6,000 monthly.
“It was kind of like a time when I needed to prove to myself that I could do it again.” – Brandi Glanville
Glanville had previously traveled to Morocco, leading to facial paralysis. Initially misdiagnosed, she spent over $70,000 searching for answers. Encouraged by her ordeal, she pushed her limits on the show “Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test.” During one challenge, an unexpected instructor command left her with no time to react.
“My head hit the water like a Mack truck,” Glanville recalled. “Shortly after, my body followed, causing intense pain. It felt paralyzing.” Her injuries included a perforated eardrum, concussion, bruised sternum, and cracked rib. These required a boat evacuation to the hospital, with physicians advising against flying.
In the hospital, doctors indicated she may require surgery and recommended not flying. However, Glanville decided to return home after further evaluation, though doctors were hesitant about her air travel.
Despite the ordeal, Glanville found pride in completing the challenge. “I’m proud; I pushed myself and even though I didn’t last long, it felt like an achievement,” she stated.
“Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test” airs Thursdays at 9:00 p.m. ET on FOX.
