The U.S. Marshals have apprehended a 16-year-old suspect in Colorado. This arrest is linked to the murder of Billy Schmidt, a student at Penn State. Philadelphia police have indicated that both teenagers involved will face adult charges for the robbery and shooting on June 6.

Search for Second Suspect Continues

Authorities are actively searching for Kaiseem Smith, the second suspect. A wanted poster has been released to assist with the ongoing pursuit. Meanwhile, a separate incident near the University of Notre Dame required prompt police intervention.

Gunfire was reported in the Eddy Street Commons area, prompting a shelter-in-place order. This order coincided with a football game between Notre Dame and Michigan State. Notre Dame’s alert system last located the suspect on the southern campus edge, leading to a comprehensive police search. Attendees at Notre Dame Stadium were asked to stay put, while others around campus were told to take shelter.

Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman participated in a post-game tradition after winning against Boise State.

The suspect is a heavy-set Black male, dressed in blue shorts and a black shirt, as per the alert. Local authorities received initial reports around 7:37 p.m. One individual was hospitalized; however, details regarding their condition remain undisclosed.

The public is cautioned to avoid the area while police continue their search.
