Swedish soccer fans journeyed to Texas this week to watch their national team play against the Netherlands in the World Cup. While in Texas, they made some interesting discoveries, including the popular gas station Buc-ee’s with its beaver mascot.
One Swedish fan gained attention online for his enthusiastic reaction to Buc-ee’s. Houston local news station KHOU interviewed World Cup attendees, where a reporter spoke to a Sweden supporter wearing a cowboy hat. When asked about his hat, the fan excitedly responded, “From Buc-ee’s! Great place. I love the beef jerky. We love the cowboy style!”
Buc-ee’s, known for selling brisket sandwiches and jerky, left a strong impression on visitors. The chain, filled with cartoon beaver imagery and even art for sale in its pristine bathrooms, can be overwhelming for newcomers. Visitors from Sweden, like those from Linköping or Malmö, where soda cups are generally smaller, find Buc-ee’s to be an intriguing sight.
Despite the discovery of Buc-ee’s, the day did not go well for the Swedish team, as the Netherlands decisively defeated them with a score of 5-1, taking control of Group F. Perhaps a visit to Buc-ee’s on the way back to their hotel might offer some comfort. Matthew Reigle writes for OutKick.
