Steven Borden made a significant appearance at All Elite Wrestling (AEW) pay-per-view, teaming with Darby Allin against Kevin Knight and Kyle Fletcher at AEW’s All Out event. As the son of legendary wrestler Sting, Borden is forging his path in wrestling, closely resembling his father. The duo aimed to secure a No. 1 contender spot for the AEW Tag Team Championship.
In the match, Kevin Knight attempted to shoulder tackle Borden. Both Knight and Borden climbed the turnbuckles, each on opposing sides of the ring, intending to execute a coast-to-coast maneuver. While Knight succeeded in his move, Borden landed hard, striking the back of his head on the mat. The match halted, and officials declared Knight and Fletcher the winners.
AEW commentator Tony Schiavone provided an update during the broadcast, informing viewers that Borden remained conscious and responsive. Medical teams took him to the hospital for further examination.
Following the event, AEW owner Tony Khan addressed the incident, stating, “Thankfully, Steven Borden is awake and responsive at the hospital. His CT scan and tests returned positive results. We expect him to travel home tomorrow.”
Injuries within wrestling are as prevalent as those in other sports like football and basketball. Fans and participants always hope for a swift recovery after such events. For Borden, the aim is to return to the ring soon.
In the aftermath, Don Callis pointed out to Knight and Fletcher’s victory, which sets them up for a crucial match against the Young Bucks. Nick and Matt Jackson, the Young Bucks, recently triumphed in a three-way ladder match against Adam Copeland and Christian Cage as well as Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler.
