Senate Confirms Keith Sonderling as Labor Secretary

The Senate confirmed Keith Sonderling as labor secretary on Wednesday night. This decision comes after several notable firings and resignations within President Donald Trump’s Cabinet throughout the year.

Sonderling had been in the role of acting labor secretary since April. He took over following the resignation of Lori Chavez-DeRemer, Trump’s previous appointee. His confirmation was finalized shortly before senators were set to recess on Wednesday. The recess allows them time to campaign ahead of the upcoming midterm elections on November 3.

The move to confirm Sonderling is part of an ongoing effort to fill key positions in the administration as several high-profile changes have occurred this year.
