The search for Elena Katherine Moore, a fitness trainer who disappeared after leaving a gym in South Carolina, continues. Moore, 39, was last seen at a Planet Fitness in Lexington on the night of June 11. Her husband, Brannon Slice, reported her missing the day after she vanished.
According to a police statement released on Monday, no further contact with Moore has been reported. As of Wednesday morning, there has been no indication of foul play, and Slice is not considered a person of interest, as Lexington Police Department Inspector Missy Silcox informed Newsweek. Slice is cooperating fully with the investigation.
New photos were released by police late Tuesday. The images show Moore in a Publix parking lot soon after leaving the Planet Fitness on Whiteford Way. She appeared to be heading towards Old Cherokee Road, dressed in an olive-green hoodie and black athletic pants. An earlier image from a doorbell camera, taken a week before her disappearance, was also shared with the public.
Drones have been used in the search for Moore, who is a personal trainer at Wolf’s Fitness Center in Lexington. The center confirmed their cooperation, stating they have provided all necessary information to authorities.
Lauren Beasley, a friend of Moore, mentioned their last conversation took place about a month ago. Beasley noted Moore’s unusual silence on social media in recent weeks, describing it as out of character for her.
Dukes Investigations & Consulting, the agency assisting in the search, is offering a $1,500 reward for information about Moore’s whereabouts. They urge residents to review their security camera footage for potential sightings.
“We just don’t know the circumstances. Is she still walking around?” said private investigator Harry Dukes to NewsNation. “She’s a fitness person, so walking is not something I would say would be out of character.”
Moore’s husband has been reportedly distraught over her disappearance. Dukes emphasizes that if anyone sees Moore, they should contact the authorities immediately.
Moore is described as 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighing about 120 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. Anyone with information should reach out to the Lexington police at (803) 358-7271.
