Rob Schneider is hopeful about mending his strained relationship with his daughter, Elle King. During an appearance on Andrew Gold’s podcast “Heretics,” Schneider, 62, expressed his commitment to being available for the country singer despite past difficulties.
The “Grown Ups” actor shared a past public event where he admitted he hadn’t fulfilled the role of the father his daughter needed. He noted an ongoing issue in America where children grow distant from their parents after returning from college and stop maintaining their previous relationships.
Elle King, who has openly discussed her “toxic” childhood, appeared on BunnieXO’s “Dumb Blonde” podcast to recount her experiences as Schneider’s daughter. She remarked on periods of disconnection with her father, sometimes lasting four or five years, and mentioned he was often “not nice.” She shared recollections of spending her childhood summers with him on movie sets, where she felt overlooked and reprimanded for typical childhood mistakes.
King’s revelations also highlighted that she does not wish to be associated with Schneider due to his questionable reputation. She expressed frustration over his history of forgetting significant milestones like her birthdays and how despite varied attempts to reach out, their relationship remained difficult.
Schneider has since apologized, acknowledging the challenges of their past interactions, and maintains that he is open to reconciliation whenever King is ready. He described a parent’s role in loving unconditionally and being open and available.
Beyond his relationship with King, Schneider reflected on the personal growth he’s experienced through spirituality. He spoke about the importance of recognizing a higher power as a source of strength during tough times. Schneider emphasized love and forgiveness, noting that forgiveness is more about personal peace than benefitting others.
Elle King’s representatives have not yet responded to queries about the current state of their relationship.
