Maxx Crosby of the Las Vegas Raiders is known for his ability to unsettle opponents at any time of year. On Friday during practice in Henderson, Nevada, Crosby faced off against Kirk Cousins.
Crosby hit Cousins’ arm twice during a team session. After the second hit, Cousins, typically calm, reacted by charging at Crosby, grabbing his jersey. Teammates quickly intervened to separate them.
Cousins continued with the first-team offense, while Crosby watched from the sidelines. Raiders head coach Klint Kubiak commented on the incident, citing it as a normal part of training camp. He emphasized the need for players to act as if they’re in a game, where fighting would result in ejection.
Michael Mayer, the team’s tight end, acknowledged Cousins for having an assertive demeanor but stressed the importance of avoiding physical altercations. Mayer stated, “There’s going to be some tussles on any padded day of camp. Our quarterback needs to stand up for himself and the team but avoid penalties.”
The Raiders selected Fernando Mendoza with the first overall pick, but Cousins remains the primary quarterback in practice. He is expected to lead the team against the Miami Dolphins in the opening game of the season.
