Quarterback Kyler Murray to Return for Minnesota Vikings

EAGAN, Minn. — Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kyler Murray will return to the field this week after being cleared from the NFL concussion protocol. Vikings coach Kevin O’Connell announced on Monday that Murray would resume his position as starting quarterback in the upcoming game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Murray’s return follows his abrupt exit from Minnesota’s season opener against the Green Bay Packers on September 13. A hit to Murray’s head by Packers safety Javon Bullard’s lowered shoulder resulted in a concussion, cutting his debut short after just 11 plays.

In Murray’s absence, Carson Wentz stepped in to lead the team. Wentz’s performance included a successful rally against the Packers, where the Vikings scored 29 unanswered points to secure a 39-22 victory. Wentz then contributed to a 9-3 win against the Chicago Bears, supported by strong defensive play and effective running.

Over two games, Wentz completed 23 of 39 passes for 276 yards and threw three touchdowns. He sustained six sacks but managed to avoid any turnovers.

In other news, Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams avoided a significant hamstring injury, according to reports. The Bears, regardless of Williams’ availability, have improvements to make moving forward. Backup QB Tyson Bagent remains prepared to step in as needed.
