Newly disclosed records from the Pentagon and FBI reveal a series of orb sightings in the northeastern United States from October 2024 to June 2025. These sightings were documented under the Trump administration’s Presidential Unsealing and Reporting System for Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (UAP) Encounters, known as PURSUE. This initiative strives for transparency by declassifying files related to UAPs.
An October 2024 report detailed a plasma-like sphere observed hovering about 2,700 feet above a pond. This luminous object transformed shape and brightness, sometimes breaking into smaller points of light. A second luminous point appeared above the water, not reflecting any surface below. The object vanished after 45 minutes and was captured on an iPhone. U.S. government analysis authenticated this footage, confirming the eyewitness’s credibility.
The PURSUE initiative, launched post-President Donald Trump’s directive, has revealed various cases. Some have conventional explanations, while others remain unresolved.
A July 2025 incident involved a bright light beneath the tree line near a residence. Witness accounts described a red sphere about one meter in diameter containing a bright white center resembling a basketball-sized plasma sun. Two witnesses captured footage and described the illumination’s movements before it vanished. The objects were estimated to be 20 to 30 feet above the ground.
FBI records indicated multiple reports and videos from the same northeastern U.S. area. Law enforcement noted significant cases in the newly released tranche.
A 2023 incident near a sensitive national security site in the western United States remains unresolved. Six federal law enforcement agents also reported glowing orange “mother orbs” releasing smaller red objects into the sky.
The All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office analyzed the sightings and found 40% unexplained even after comparing witness accounts with data such as commercial and military flight logs. While some activity plausibly resulted from military flares, they noted the “unrecognized technology” hypothesis, cautioning that the conclusion relies primarily on witness accounts.
The released documents include sketches, maps, and narratives. The Western U.S. Event was among the most extensively documented.
In Colorado, five Army personnel reported an angular object above Cheyenne Mountain in February 2022. Described as resembling a shifting “potato” composed of panels, it hovered before disappearing.
The Pentagon suggested sunlight reflecting off snow-covered terrain might explain the sighting, but AARO expressed low confidence due to unclear viewing angles and environmental factors.
The diverse reports published through PURSUE range from cases potentially having conventional explanations to others that remain unresolved after prolonged analysis.
While transparency advocates appreciate these releases, researchers suggest limitations due to heavy reliance on witness testimony and minimal technical data.
Sean Kirkpatrick, former AARO director, noted unresolved cases often stem from incomplete information needed for conclusive judgments.
As of yet, neither the Department of War nor AARO has confirmed any evidence of extraterrestrial life or alien technology in the PURSUE-released incidents. Investigators emphasize unresolved cases highlight insufficient information rather than proof of extraterrestrial origins.
