A joint operation by the FBI and Texas authorities led to the arrest of over 276 individuals suspected of child exploitation and the rescue of 89 children. This was revealed on Friday as part of the outcomes of Operation Soteria Shield, which falls under the national initiative, Operation Iron Pursuit. The operation concentrated on individuals involved in the online sexual exploitation, abuse, trafficking, and production and distribution of child sexual abuse material (CSAM) in North Texas.
FBI Director Kash Patel expressed the agency’s dedication by stating, “Every single day, this FBI is moving more aggressively than ever before to destroy child predator networks and save innocent victims all over the country.” The significant results from the FBI’s efforts in Dallas represent a critical step in this mission.
Operation Soteria Shield took place in March and April, focusing on those exploiting children through various online channels including social media and messaging apps. Protecting children from those who seek to exploit them is among the most important work we do in law enforcement,
stated Dallas Police Department Chief Daniel Comeaux.
The FBI highlighted that this operation involved 91 law enforcement agencies throughout Texas. Kash Patel further commented, “These are young lives saved, families reunited, and future crimes prevented by brave law enforcement doing their jobs. Iām proud of our teams for their execution.” The agency’s accomplishments are exemplified by the location of over 6,940 child victims last year, marking a 144% increase, and nearly 3,000 child predators arrested, up by 70%.
Earlier in the month, the FBI also reported the arrest of more than 350 child sexual abuse offenders as a part of the nationwide initiative, Operation Iron Pursuit, conducted in April. The initiative aims to identify child victims of sex abuse and apprehend the perpetrators.
