Olivia Rodrigo wowed fans on the opening night of “The Unraveled Tour” in Hartford, Conn. The 23-year-old star hit the stage at People’s Bank Arena in a stunning baby blue pleated mini dress. She performed her hit song “The Cure” from her third studio album, captivating thousands of devoted fans. Partway through the performance, a rain effect on stage revealed a red latex ensemble beneath her dress, sparking excitement among the audience.
Following the impressive water display, Rodrigo switched to a casual outfit of a tank top and jeans for the encore. She performed hits from her previous albums, “GUTS” and “SOUR.” The singer expressed her happiness in an online post, writing about how seeing her plans come together felt like a dream realized. She thanked collaborators Es Devlin, Hussein Chalayan, and humanprsn for their contributions to the show.
“Can’t wait to see more of y’all on the road!!!!” Rodrigo shared in excitement. The tour marks her third concert tour, inspired by her album “You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love.” The tour includes 86 shows across North America and Europe, concluding at London’s O2 Arena on May 10.
Prior to the tour, Rodrigo made waves in the nonprofit world. She raised $20 million with her Daisy Chain Fields music festival, benefiting women-focused organizations. Melinda French Gates pledged to match Rodrigo’s fundraising efforts after the event’s $10 million initial success.
Gates joined Rodrigo on stage, praising her efforts and the powerful message it sent to women and girls. Gates emphasized the strength found in collective action, stating, “When women and girls come together to dream and to lead, we change the world.”
Inspired by Sarah McLachlan’s Lilith Fair, Rodrigo developed Daisy Chain Fields to support women’s organizations. Funds raised were distributed equally among ten organizations, including Baby2Baby, Black Mamas Matter Alliance, Center for Reproductive Rights, and Planned Parenthood, among others.
