Miami Airport Flights Halted After Cargo Plane Overrun

All flights into Miami International Airport have been stopped due to an incident involving a disabled aircraft. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) reported this update on their airport status website.

Footage shared on social media displays thick smoke rising from a plane featuring an Amazon emblem on its wing. The aircraft appears to be on a roadway.

“21 Air Flight 7598 overran the runway after landing at Miami International Airport around 2 p.m. local time,” the FAA stated in an email to Newsweek on Sunday. “The Boeing 767-300 cargo aircraft had left Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport in San Juan, Puerto Rico.”

The FAA has announced an investigation into the event. However, they directed queries to the airline for further information.

No details about injuries or fatalities are confirmed at the moment. Newsweek has contacted Amazon Prime, Miami International Airport, and Miami Fire and Rescue for comments.
