Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey, a Democrat, announced her candidacy for a second term in office. She has no challengers in the Democratic primary. However, she will learn about her Republican opponent soon.
The Republican primary race features Abiomed CEO Mike Monogue and former Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority administrator Brian Shortsleeve. Monogue holds a lead in opinion polls over Shortsleeve. Voters will decide their choice in the upcoming primary.
As a strong Democrat state, Massachusetts favors Healey for re-election. The polls will close at 8 p.m. EDT.
