NFL training camps are beginning, and excitement is building for the release of the latest installment of the Madden NFL series. Madden NFL 27 will be launched in just over two weeks, but debates about player ratings have already started. EA Sports has released its newest player ratings, revealing the top 10 players for key positions such as quarterback, running back, and wide receiver.
The ratings highlight reigning MVP Matthew Stafford and Buffalo Bills’ star Josh Allen at the top of the quarterback list. Both quarterbacks have secured a place in the 99 Club, a prestigious recognition in the game. Stafford claims the leading position in the quarterbacks’ list, with Allen close behind.
For the quarterback ratings, Joe Burrow follows in third place with a 97 rating, succeeded by Lamar Jackson of the Baltimore Ravens. Patrick Mahomes is rated at 93, placing him fifth, and the top ten is completed by Jared Goff with an 88.

The 99 Club also includes Ja’Marr Chase, Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Myles Garrett, and Trey McBride. Notably, the Seattle Seahawks have extended Smith-Njigba’s contract for four years, making him the highest-paid wide receiver in NFL history. Since joining the NFL in 2021, Chase has recorded over 1,000 receiving yards each season.
Wide receivers beyond Chase and Smith-Njigba in the top five include Puka Nacua, Amon-Ra St. Brown, and Justin Jefferson. Mike Evans, having moved from the Buccaneers to the 49ers, features in the tenth spot.
Leading the running back ratings is Jahmyr Gibbs from the Detroit Lions with a 98 overall score. Christian McCaffrey follows closely at 97 after a successful season, and Jonathan Taylor and Bijan Robinson both score 95. The top running back list concludes with Kyren Williams from the Rams.
Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams is projected as the face of Madden NFL 27. Though appearing on the cover, Williams aims to achieve a higher rating within the year by improving his game statistics.
“If I get my completion percentage up, I’ll be a 99,” Williams mentioned on the “Up & Adams” show. “I don’t throw picks, I’m not a pick guy, never been a pick guy. Throw a few more touchdowns, keep the picks down and then just get the completion up.”
The global release of Madden NFL 27 is set for August 13. MVP+ members will gain access up to a week before the official launch.
In team ratings, the Rams boast the top spot with a 93 overall. Chantz Martin contributes as a sports writer for Fox News Digital.
