LSU Tigers Prepare for Crucial Matchup Against Alabama

LSU is taking a break this week, gearing up to face No. 10 Alabama at Tiger Stadium on November 7th. This matchup is always a highlight in college football, anticipated by fans and typically given a primetime slot. However, this year, the game is scheduled for a 3:30 p.m. ET kickoff.

LSU head coach Lane Kiffin has voiced his disappointment over the shift from a night game. During a news conference on Wednesday, he suggested that the SEC strategically scheduled the game during the afternoon to favor Alabama, as night games at Tiger Stadium present challenging conditions for visiting teams. I was like, well, if someone thinks the SEC wants us to win this year after what’s been going on, they must have been on Mars the last four months, Kiffin commented, according to On3. He expressed that a night game was always expected due to precedent, calling his previous thoughts possibly naive.

Kiffin’s remarks come in the midst of ongoing issues between LSU and the SEC, related to controversy over players who fraternized with NFL teams before being recruited by LSU prior to the season.

The upcoming LSU versus Alabama contest will be pivotal for the SEC championship race and College Football Playoff considerations. Despite not being a night game, Tiger Stadium’s atmosphere is expected to be electrifying with the Crimson Tide visiting Baton Rouge.

Historically, Alabama has been dominant, winning the last three meetings, and taking 13 out of the last 15 encounters. LSU secured a home victory against Alabama in 2022, edging out a 32-31 win in overtime.
