Ruemmler’s Testimony on Relationship with Epstein
Kathryn Ruemmler, former general counsel at Goldman Sachs, recently provided testimony during a closed-door congressional hearing concerning her interactions with Jeffrey Epstein. The testimony was part of an investigation into Epstein’s activities.
Despite knowing Epstein for six years, Ruemmler asserted that she never witnessed any actions or evidence of abuse towards women or girls. However, she acknowledged Epstein’s skill at deception, referring to him as a ‘masterful liar’.
Ruemmler resigned from her position at Goldman Sachs earlier this year, following revelations about her connection to Epstein. Her resignation occurred after the release of emails by the Justice Department, which exposed the depth of her relationship with Epstein.
‘I can see now that he used me and other respectable people to legitimize his standing, and I know now that he often exaggerated his relationship with me to others,’ Ruemmler stated in her opening address to the House Oversight Committee.
These emails revealed that Ruemmler had not only socialized with Epstein but had also provided him advice regarding past allegations of child sexual abuse. Her communications included exchanging jokes and calling Epstein ‘sweetie.’

Ruemmler’s association with Epstein has significantly impacted her professional life. As one of Wall Street’s most notable figures, her career faced jeopardy due to her ties to Epstein. Until February when she resigned, Ruemmler earned $25 million annually at Goldman Sachs.

In one of her emails, she offered guidance on managing Epstein’s legal issues stemming from a 2008 guilty plea in Florida. This plea involved charges of solicitation of sex from a minor and resulted in a federal nonprosecution agreement.
