Iranian Delegation Heads to Switzerland for US Talks

The Iranian government announced that its negotiation team will travel to Switzerland for discussions with the United States regarding their interim agreement related to the conflict. This information was provided by a foreign ministry spokesperson and was broadcasted on Iranian state television on Saturday.

Initially, the trip was scheduled for Friday but was delayed. The announcement followed a statement from Iran’s joint military command, which declared the closure of the Strait of Hormuz due to ongoing Israeli attacks in Lebanon.

Esmail Bagahei, a spokesperson for the Foreign Ministry, mentioned to state TV, “Any memorandum or agreement is ultimately tested when it enters the implementation phase.”

In related developments, initial attempts to hold US-Iran discussions faced setbacks as Vice President JD Vance remained in his home country. Meanwhile, reports indicated an agreement between Israel and Hezbollah to cease hostilities, outlining how the US-Iran dialogue remains in a delicate position.

In historical context, this day also marks notable events such as the conviction of Muhammad Ali for draft evasion and the assassination of former Chicago organized crime boss Sam Giancana in 1975.
