Increase in Incidents Tied to Immigration Enforcement

Recent data analysis from The Washington Post highlights an increase in incidents involving federal immigration officers under the Trump administration. Following two fatal shootings occurring just days apart, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) decided to temporarily suspend efforts to arrest undocumented immigrants during traffic stops.

President Donald Trump, however, raised questions about this decision through a social media post.

These recent fatalities in Houston and Biddeford, Maine, are part of at least 17 shootings involving motorists by federal immigration officers since the start of Trump’s presidency nearly 18 months ago. The administration’s intensified enforcement efforts coincide with these rising incidents.
