Gordon Ramsay’s Unyielding Rule at Home: Manners Matter Most

Gordon Ramsay commands respect in the world of television cooking. Yet at home, his top rule is unrelated to culinary skills. Instead, he emphasizes the importance of manners. Ramsay, a father of six with wife Tana, shared this value at the FOX Upfront 2026 event.

“The most important lesson I teach my children is manners,” Ramsay told Fox News Digital. The famous chef believes respect costs nothing but is invaluable. For Ramsay, whether his children are in the military, university, or navigating public life, manners remain a priority.

“The one thing I’ve taught them all, brilliantly, are manners.” — Gordon Ramsay

Ramsay and Tana have a large family, with children Megan (born 1998), twins Jack and Holly (1999), Matilda, known as Tilly (2001), Oscar (2019), and Jesse (2023). Despite his vast empire in restaurants and media, Ramsay resists entitlement at home.

Jack serves as a Royal Marine commando. Megan is a police officer. Holly works in fashion. Tilly is pursuing her degree. Tana and Ramsay, both from educationally humble backgrounds, value their large family experience in raising their kids.

Tana commented on managing a big family, saying, “I’m one of four, Gordon’s one of four, so it’s sort of second nature to me.”

In the kitchen, Ramsay is less forgiving. He identified a common cooking mistake he often encounters: improper seasoning. He advises seasoning food progressively throughout the cooking process, not only at the end.

Ramsay emphasized, “When you season food, begin small, middle small, and correct seasoning at the end. Don’t wait until it’s cooked.”

On his continued interest in cooking shows, Ramsay mentioned enjoying the mix of social media stars, amateur cooks, and professionals. He finds the resulting chaos appealing, highlighting the challenge of adapting to unfamiliar ingredients.

Ramsay’s shows, including “Kitchen Nightmares,” “Hell’s Kitchen,” and others, have been renewed by FOX for further seasons, underscoring his lasting impact on television.
