Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ wide receiver Emeka Egbuka, in his second year with the team, left Wednesday’s practice session and did not return. The details surrounding Egbuka’s injury remain unclear, but he managed to walk off the field with a limp.
NFL Network insider Mike Garafolo, observing from the practice, reported, Buccaneers WR Emeka Egbuka limped off with athletic trainers. Was examined on the sideline table for a while. Hard to see exactly what’s up from where we are but he’s still on the table and hasn’t returned.
He also added, Egbuka, with both cleats off, just walked back to the sideline to watch the rest of practice.
Egbuka performed impressively during his rookie season after being the Buccaneers’ 19th overall pick in the draft. The former Ohio State player rapidly established himself as a key target for quarterback Baker Mayfield. He recorded 63 receptions, amassed 938 yards, and scored six touchdowns over the 17-game regular season.
Following the off-season departure of veteran wide receiver Mike Evans, Egbuka is anticipated to play a more prominent role in 2026. The Buccaneers are slated to begin their 2026 regular season against the Cincinnati Bengals on September 13.
