WWE NXT competitor EK Prosper took to the ring in an effort to claim the NXT Championship from Grayson Waller. Answering the open challenge on Tuesday, Prosper showcased his impressive aerial skills during the match.
With Waller positioned on the announce table, Prosper was poised to deliver an eye-catching move. He certainly did not disappoint; his performance captured attention not only in the arena but also across social media. Prosper leapt to the middle rope, executed a backflip, and landed on Waller, sparking excitement among the WWE Performance Center audience.
Despite Prosper’s striking efforts, Waller proved his experience and championship prowess. Demonstrating resilience, he regrouped and returned to the ring, managing to execute his signature move, the Waller Effect. This led to Prosper being pinned, allowing Waller to successfully defend his title.
Waller’s victory continues his month-long reign as champion, following his win in a fatal four-way match at Heatwave in August. During that bout, he overcame Tony D’Angelo, Cruz Montana, and Zilla Fatu.
The match was initially slated against Mason Rook, but due to medical clearance issues, Rook withdrew. Shawn Michaels, NXT’s senior vice president of talent development and creativity, announced the open challenge for the title. In a social media video, Michaels expressed hope that A.J. Styles or CM Punk might step up. However, Prosper seized the opportunity, showcasing his talents against Waller.
