In a tragic incident at an In-N-Out Burger in Twin Falls, Idaho, a mass shooting resulted in three fatalities and seven injuries, including a taxi driver and a former law enforcement officer. The shooter, Chad Williams, 24, ended the attack by taking his own life.
Ongoing Investigation
Authorities continue to investigate the motive behind the shooting, which took place early on a busy afternoon in a shopping plaza. Williams’ past remains largely unknown, although court records from Idaho and Arizona reveal no criminal history. Elijah Moseley, a former dorm neighbor, described Williams as an introverted and relaxed individual. Moseley expressed shock and disbelief over the incident.
Police Chief Matthew Hicks confirmed that Williams acted alone, with his family cooperating with the investigation. Of the injured, two were treated and released from the hospital, three are stable, and two remain in critical condition.
Intervention and Victim Support
An off-duty state trooper and civilian intervened in the attack. Their names and those of the victims are not yet public. A vigil is scheduled for Tuesday evening at Twin Falls City Park.
Incident at In-N-Out Burger
The shooting occurred at a recently opened In-N-Out, part of the chain’s expansion into Idaho. An employee was among those killed, confirmed the owner, Lynsi Snyder. Kimberley Castaneda shared that her brother, Christopher Claunch, was also a victim. Claunch was known for helping others after overcoming alcohol addiction himself.
Marcus Scott, in a Facebook post, shared that his son Austin “A.J.” Scott was severely injured while attempting to protect others. A.J., a former law enforcement officer, is expected to face a lengthy recovery.
Taxi Driver’s Experience
Terry Dudley, a North Star Taxi driver, was wounded while charging a company vehicle. James Palmer, the cab service owner, stated that Dudley was flown to a hospital in Boise with serious injuries.
Palmer highlighted Dudley’s importance to the company and described the situation as chaotic. Williams’ connection to the College of Southern Idaho was also detailed. He was a student until December 2023 but did not graduate or receive a certificate. He briefly served in the student senate before impeachment due to inactivity.
