Recent reports suggesting a possible return of Tyreek Hill to the Kansas City Chiefs have gained attention. However, his divorce trial began on Tuesday, highlighting serious domestic abuse allegations brought forward by Lakeeta Vaccaro, Hill’s estranged wife. These allegations may affect Hill’s prospects under the NFL’s Personal Conduct Policy.
Vaccaro’s testimony detailed eight instances of alleged abuse. While Hill is a free agent, the NFL is reviewing these allegations with no set timeline for a conclusion. The recent court proceedings will likely influence the league’s decision regarding Hill’s eligibility to play.
Vaccaro is suing Hill for punitive and compensatory damages. During her testimony, she recounted an incident in July 2024, when Hill allegedly struck her hands while attempting to punch her stomach. At that time, Vaccaro was pregnant. She testified Hill expressed disdain for the pregnancy. Vaccaro, the sister of former NFL safety Kenny Vaccaro, described a tumultuous relationship marked by cycles of calm followed by conflict.
Hill’s legal team questioned discrepancies between Vaccaro’s deposition and her court testimony, stressing the absence of physical evidence. They emphasized that serious allegations do not automatically imply guilt.
Hill has faced previous allegations of violence towards women:
- In 2015, Hill pleaded guilty to domestic assault against a former girlfriend in college, which resulted in probation and later expungement.
- In 2019, an audio recording prompted an investigation into a child’s broken arm, but no charges were filed.
- In 2023, British influencer Sophie Hall sued Hill for a civil incident where she claimed Hill caused her injury during a drill. The case was settled in 2026 without disclosed terms.
- In 2024–2025, Vaccaro reported domestic incidents, one involving a cigar and another concerning an argument over a baby near a balcony. Police did not file charges in these cases.
The trial proceedings ended on Tuesday without comments from Hill or Vaccaro. The trial will continue on Wednesday.
