During a recent press conference, Dabo Swinney, the veteran head coach of the Clemson Tigers, expressed strong opinions about the state of college football. He criticized programs like LSU for seeking former NFL players as the 2026 season approaches.
Swinney remarked on this trend, saying, “It’s kind of embarrassing. Honestly, it’s embarrassing that’s where we are. I don’t blame the kids, but people trying to take advantage of the system. It’s embarrassing, but we’ve been there for a while.” He added, “No pun intended but we’re just going to stay in our lane.”
Interestingly, ESPN college football analyst Paul Finebaum, who often disagrees with Swinney, supports him in this instance. Finebaum shared on “Get Up” that he concurs with Swinney’s viewpoint, saying, “I don’t think I’ve agreed with Dabo Swinney in ten years on anything. He’s 100% right, and almost everyone in college football agrees with him that does not live in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.”
The Clemson vs. LSU match is scheduled to kick off at 7:30 p.m. ET on Saturday.
