The San Francisco Giants have recently grabbed attention on social media with their outfield hip-thrusting celebrations. Yet, the team’s current performance does not align with such jubilant displays, as they are currently under .500 in the league standings.
Former Giants player and six-time All-Star Will Clark has expressed his disapproval of these celebrations. He voiced his opinion on the “Deuces Wild” podcast, criticizing the pelvic thrust dance. Clark stated, “I’m like ‘What is this?’ You’re 20 and 30, you don’t have the luxury of doing that kind of stuff out there. It looks unprofessional. Go back, high-five each other, ‘Nice job, we won one. Let’s keep the train running.'”
Clark, who played for the Giants from 1986 to 1993, believes the team’s reputation is suffering. He feels the celebratory antics are out of place given the team’s current struggles. These words echo the sentiments of many fans who feel the celebrations are misleading to those not closely following baseball.
This situation is similar to a football team celebrating a minor score in a significant loss. Critics argue that the Giants should focus on improving their game instead.
