Content creator Good Good Golf, currently a title sponsor for a new PGA Tour event this autumn, faced backlash after sharing a controversial video. The video showcased a scene involving a man aggressively shoving a woman who was attempting to reach for his new Callaway driver. This portrayal of violence against women led to significant criticism.
The video was deleted late Friday by both Good Good and Callaway as clips continued to circulate on social media despite the official removal.
The individuals in the video are part of the Good Good team. Garrett Clark is seen in the video pushing Alexis Miestowski to the ground while instructing her, “Do not touch my new driver.”
Following the criticism, Good Good issued an apology via social media on Saturday. In their statement, they expressed regret over sharing the video and insisted such actions do not align with their brand values. They emphasized their goal to make golf more inclusive and pledged continued efforts towards this mission.
Good Good Golf began as a YouTube channel in 2020. It has since grown into one of the largest content creators in the sport, featuring competitions among eight men and four women along with various challenges. Their brand has expanded to include made-for-TV shows, apparel, and other merchandise. Callaway Golf joined forces with Good Good in 2023.
Callaway Golf also responded, expressing disappointment over the content while appreciating Good Good’s actions in addressing the issue. They acknowledged the importance of creating an inclusive environment in the golf community.
The PGA Tour has increasingly involved content creators, and Good Good has made progress by becoming the title sponsor of the Good Good Championship. This event, part of the FedEx Cup Fall, is set to occur from November 12-15 in Austin, Texas.
The PGA Tour released a statement reaffirming their belief in golf’s power to unite individuals and foster a welcoming atmosphere. They condemned violence and declared the removed video as contrary to their values and commitment to inclusivity and respect.
