A tragic incident unfolded at Chain O’ Lakes when a 15-year-old boy was reported missing on Monday evening. Authorities received a call around 6 p.m. regarding the disappearance of the young swimmer near Fox Lake.
Friends initially tried to find the boy after he went missing but could not succeed, prompting them to alert the authorities. In response, multiple agencies were mobilized, including the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, Fox Lake Fire Protection District, and Illinois Conservation Police.
A spokesperson from the Lake County sheriff’s office noted that the teen was not wearing a flotation device at the time of the incident. Reports suggest he either jumped or accidentally fell from a boat into the lake.
Approximately two hours after the call was made, divers and an underwater drone device discovered a body in Pistakee Lake. Authorities believe this is the body of the missing teenager.
