A McDonald’s restaurant in Northeast Ohio turned into a wedding venue last Saturday. Two co-workers, Jamie and George Callicoat, exchanged vows in front of friends, family, and fellow employees in Akron, Ohio. Despite the dining room being closed to the public, some customers tried to enter, according to Jamie.
While the drive-thru remained open, guests witnessed the ceremony in an unusual setting. Some customers used the kiosks inside to order, adapting to the unexpected event.
The wedding has gone viral online, generating over 20 million impressions on social media platforms like Instagram and Facebook. Jamie shared her surprise at the reaction, stating that the attention is unbelievable.
After their wedding, the couple returned to work at the McDonald’s where they were congratulated by customers. Co-workers, bosses, and even the Brinks men who visit the restaurant offered their best wishes after seeing the wedding video.
Jamie serves as a manager and George as a crew trainer at the McDonald’s. The venue, which they also helped decorate, provided a cost-effective solution for their wedding. The pair met through mutual friends at Cedar Point in June 2025, and George trained Jamie when she started at McDonald’s in October 2025.
Originally planning to marry at Cedar Point where George proposed, a district manager’s joke about a McDonald’s wedding snowballed into reality. The couple responded to the suggestion and ended up holding their celebration there.
The McDonald’s team came together to provide dinner, a wedding cake, and more. The officiant, connected to McDonald’s as the husband of the restaurant’s general manager, led the ceremony. The menu featured pulled barbecue chicken, buffalo chicken dip, homemade rigatoni, and fried chicken, while children enjoyed McDonald’s cuisine.
In a playful touch, the flower girl threw petals from a Happy Meal box. Jamie thought incorporating elements of their workplace into the wedding was endearing.
On social media, McDonald’s and others congratulated the couple on their “McMarriage.” Despite jokes about McDonald’s ice cream machines, George assured their machine worked, except during cleaning.
Tammy Snider, the restaurant’s general manager, emphasized that the event was about celebrating love and community. Jamie expressed her satisfaction with the wedding, praising her colleagues and McDonald’s for their support.
