Jonathan Andic, the son of Mango’s founder, has denied accusations of murder related to his father’s 2024 death in Spain. In an open letter published on Tuesday, he described the allegation as “serious, unjust and unfounded.” As a result, he announced his resignation as vice president of Mango’s board to concentrate on his legal defense.
“A public narrative has been created based on a view that is biased, distorted and taken out of context,” Andic stated, underlining that this perception of guilt does not reflect reality. This letter marks his first public comment on the matter.
On May 19, 2026, Jonathan Andic was seen leaving the Juzgado de Instruccion 5 in Martorell after posting a bail of one million euros ($1.2 million). He expressed his decision to step down as a difficult one, but necessary for both the company and himself, citing the need to focus all his energy on proving his innocence.
The case stems from the events of December 14, 2024, when 71-year-old Isak Andic, a billionaire and the founder of Mango, fell to his death while hiking in the Montserrat mountains near Barcelona with his son. Although initially considered an accident, the investigation was reopened in October 2025, focusing on Jonathan Andic, who was arrested last week and released upon posting bail.
After Isak Andic’s death, Jonathan Andic was appointed as executive vice president of Mango’s holding company in January 2025, according to Reuters.
