Voter Fraud in New Jersey Spurs SAVE Act Advocacy

Congressman Chip Roy emphasizes the urgency of the Save America Act in securing federal elections. A ‘software glitch’ in New Jersey allowed 6,600 non-citizens to register, with hundreds casting votes. Roy argues this issue validates the need for voter ID, a measure favored by 80% of Americans, urging the Senate to pass the bill.

Federal authorities recently made arrests involving election-related crimes by noncitizens. This contrasts with Democratic claims that such instances are rare or don’t occur. The SAVE Act proposes requiring proof of citizenship to register for federal elections, a move Democrats argue could hamper eligible Americans from voting.

Rep. Mary Gay Scanlon stated, ‘Noncitizens do not vote in U.S. elections,’ after opposing the bill in 2025.

However, three noncitizens were arrested in Philadelphia County for election offenses. One case involves Joshua Kofi Edzie of Ghana, arrested on charges related to noncitizen voting. Additional cases include Sade Guppy from Trinidad and Tobago, who allegedly voted in the 2022 midterms, and Cliff Sanon, a Haitian illegal immigrant charged with fraudulent voter registration for the 2026 Pennsylvania primary. The Department of Homeland Security also highlights Mahady Sacko, a Mauritanian illegal immigrant, accused of voting in seven federal elections since 2008.

Attorney General Todd Blanche recently announced the indictment of 10 foreign nationals on voter fraud charges in Minnesota, spanning several nationalities. Sen. Alex Padilla denounced the SAVE Act as ‘anti-voter’ and stated that noncitizen voting remains illegal and rare.

Democratic Rep. Joe Morelle criticized the SAVE Act as ‘voter suppression.’ His office did not provide a response to Fox News before press time. Likewise, Democratic Rep. James Walkinshaw of Virginia dismissed claims of widespread noncitizen voting as improbable.

New Jersey Governor Mikie Sherrill acknowledged that around 400 noncitizens voted in the state. Calls for federal scrutiny persist despite objections. Three residents from New Jersey—hailing from Jamaica, Venezuela, and Senegal—faced charges of illegal voting and false citizenship claims this month.

A spokesperson for the Department of Homeland Security mentioned ongoing investigations into election fraud but did not comment on active cases. White House spokesperson Lauren Bis asserted that noncitizens continue to vote in federal elections despite denials by the media and Democrats.

Amidst these developments, advocacy for the SAVE Act intensifies ahead of upcoming midterm elections. ‘Only Americans should elect America’s leaders,’ said Lauren Bis, as debates continue on this contested issue.
