The British Embassy in Washington has inaugurated a new on-site pub named “The Two Georges.” This name is a nod to both George Washington and King George III, individuals noted for never having shared a drink together.
The pub opened its doors with a grand event where guests cast long shadows on its entrance. This event marked a significant occasion as attendees entered through a special gate, avoiding the usual check-in process at the embassy’s guardhouses.
Typically, the embassy is surrounded by a towering black metal fence, and security is tight with bunker-like guardhouses. However, the opening celebration allowed visitors to bypass these usual protocols and enjoy an evening at the newly established pub.
