Presley Gerber, a model and son of Cindy Crawford, has passed away at the age of 27. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office has confirmed his death on Sunday at a rehabilitation facility. The cause of death remains unconfirmed.
Gerber had been candid about his battles with mental health issues and drug abuse. Earlier this year, in March, he shared a post on Instagram expressing his reflections. He wrote, “Pre Ibogaine Flood Dose – quiet moment before everything changed.” In this post, Gerber talked about confronting personal struggles and hinted at finding a path to self-discovery. He added, “We shall see… Praying it’s the last time I have to come back.” His message included hashtags such as “iboga,” “ibogaine,” “rewire your brain,” and “love yourself,” highlighting his focus on mental health.
Ibogaine is derived from iboga, a West African shrub, and serves different functions depending on dosage. In small amounts, it acts as a mild stimulant. Larger doses result in intense psychedelic experiences, including hallucinations. As a pharmaceutical substance, ibogaine addresses various health issues, notably Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), and is employed in treating substance use disorders. Studies show its potential in reducing withdrawal symptoms and curbing cravings.
Ibogaine gained attention in the 1980s in the U.S. and Europe. Despite its potential benefits, it remains classified as a Schedule I substance under the Controlled Substances Act.
This situation is unfolding, and more information will be provided as it becomes available.
