Hollywood Remembers September 11 on its 25th Anniversary

Hollywood is taking a moment to remember. As the United States commemorates the 25th anniversary of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, the country unites for ceremonies and moments of silence to honor the 2,977 victims. Across Hollywood, celebrities share personal reflections, tributes, and messages of remembrance.

Celebrity Tributes

Mark Wahlberg and Martha Stewart lead the tributes from celebrities. Mark Wahlberg posted an American flag video on Instagram with a caption expressing the overwhelming emotions that this anniversary brings. Martha Stewart shared her personal experience of witnessing the attacks on TV while in Tokyo, unable to reach family and friends in the U.S.

“We stayed glued to the television for news and we tried to figure out how we could get back to the United States,” Stewart said.

Stewart also recounted a poignant visit to a temple in Miho, Japan. Encouraged by a friend to seek solace there, she described the temple, designed by the same architect as the World Trade Center, as a place of unexpected peace.

Other Personal Memories

Dean Cain shared a tribute on X, displaying a cross made from World Trade Center steel. Hugh Jackman posted a video montage on Instagram, urging followers to support each other. Sarah Jessica Parker posted a video showing New York City as lights rose behind the One World Trade Center, reflecting on the anniversary.

Royal Commemorations

The British royal family participated in commemorations, including a Changing of the Guard ceremony at Buckingham Palace. The event featured performances of both national anthems and “Amazing Grace.” Earlier, King Charles III and Queen Camilla visited the 9/11 Memorial in New York during their U.S. state visit.

New York City Observances

In New York City, the anniversary will feature performances by Cyndi Lauper, Lainey Wilson, and John Ondrasik at the “9/11 Tribute in Light: Live from Lower Manhattan.” These performances honor the nearly 3,000 victims, survivors, families, and communities affected by the attacks.
