Woody Johnson Honored for Philanthropy by Tunnel to Towers

New York Jets owner Woody Johnson is set to be honored at the Tunnel to Towers’ annual gala for his extensive partnership supporting the organization. Tunnel to Towers, founded in 2001, focuses on assisting 9/11 first responders, veterans, and their families, providing mortgage-free smart homes to disabled servicemen and housing for homeless veterans.

Johnson’s work with Tunnel to Towers began in 2014 when he donated $1 million to the Building for America’s Bravest program. Tunnel to Towers recently surprised Command Sergeant Major William “Bud” McElroy with a mortgage-free smart home in collaboration with Johnson.

“Tunnel to Towers’ work is a reminder of honoring those who showed courage for our country,”

Johnson stated, recognizing the organization’s efforts over the past two decades to transform grief into action.

Frank Siller, Tunnel to Towers Chairman and CEO, praised Johnson’s commitments, attributing the provision of specially adapted smart homes for injured veterans and support for first responder families to Johnson’s contributions.

“Woody has been offering his support for more than a decade without expecting anything in return,” Siller remarked. “He’s undoubtedly deserving of the Follow the Footsteps Award which he will receive at the December gala.”

Besides his work with Tunnel to Towers, Johnson served as the U.S. ambassador to the United Kingdom during the Trump administration and is a founding trustee of the 9/11 Memorial & Museum.
