Controversial Event Planned at Georgetown University: Charlie Kirk Lookalike Contest

Recent reports indicate students at Georgetown University are allegedly organizing a ‘Charlie Kirk lookalike contest’ on the anniversary of the conservative activist’s assassination. The event announcement, promoted through screenshots shared by the school’s Turning Point USA chapter with Fox News Digital, has gained notable attention on Fizz, an anonymous social media platform popular among Georgetown’s student population.

According to the Turning Point USA chapter, the event is set for September 10, 2026, and has already received more than 2,200 upvotes. Georgetown University has an approximate undergraduate population of 6,000 students. This level of engagement suggests significant interest among the students, with the event set to take place at Copley Lawn, a landmark area on campus next to the iconic Healy Hall.

The statement accompanying the contest announcement reads, ‘Pull up to Copley Lawn to speak the truth while the cost is high.’ The TPUSA chapter at Georgetown interprets this slogan as potentially mocking, expressing concerns about its implications.

As a response, the TPUSA chapter has established a presence on campus featuring American flags and signs condemning the planned event. They have made efforts to counter some of the narratives surrounding the September 10 anniversary.

Further controversy has emerged with discussions of an ‘Erika Kirk lookalike contest’ within anonymous posts on the Fizz platform. Comments surfaced, suggesting the winners of both contests could play symbolic roles akin to prom king and queen.

The identity of the event initiators remains unclear, but believe that the idea originated on Fizz. Georgetown students access this platform using their university email addresses.

Fizz also featured posts proposing Georgetown Chimes, a choral group, perform a song titled ‘We Are Charlie Kirk.’ This AI-generated song was released following Kirk’s assassination.

Another post on the platform read, ‘Happy Kirkiversary, September 10th, on Healy Lawn,’ along with an AI-generated image of Kirk and phrases such as ‘Honoring leadership, inspiring truth,’ and ‘Charlie Kirk lookalike contest.’

Heidi Sui, president of Georgetown’s TPUSA chapter, expressed distress over the traction of the contest idea, considering it inappropriate for a place intended for diverse dialogues. She fears this celebration could deepen existing political divides. Georgetown University, recognized for its foreign service program, is seen as an institution valuable for its diverse political engagements.

A representative from Georgetown University made clear that no official activities connected to these posts are planned. The university stresses its dedication to upholding a safe and inclusive environment conducive to learning. Anonymous posts and their potential consequences are being monitored closely.

Georgetown emphasizes promoting respectful dialogues. The administration condemns language trivializing victims of violence, viewing it as inconsistent with university values. Policies supporting free expression are counterbalanced by expectations aligning with the Code of Student Conduct.

The report was compiled by Rachel del Guidice, a culture reporter for Fox News, covering political intersections within American society.
